Keto Philly Cheesesteaks (made on the Blackstone Griddle Grill)
We just made some super easy and fantastic Keto Philly Cheesesteaks using Sola Brand hotdog buns!
The hardest part about this recipe is choosing what type of keto bread or bun to use because there are so many different options.
Here are a few different Keto Bread Bun Options:
Keto Bagel Buns can easily be shaped into hotdog buns and they are fantastic!
Jen’s Keto Smash Burger Bun recipe – you could easily make hotdog buns out of this recipe too!
We made Easy Keto Corndog chaffles in a waffle iron. You could easily use this same recipe in a mini dash waffle maker and use the chaffle bread as a hotdog bun!
Wonder Bread Chaffle recipe would make a perfect bun for your Philly Cheesesteak and it really don’t taste like regular white bread!
Sola Brand Hotdog buns – these buns are store bought. I purchased them at my local HEB store here in Texas. They are fantastic and perfect for saving time in the kitchen.
Blackstone Griddle Grill Information
I own two different types of Blackstone Griddle grills. One I keep out in my RV for camping. This is the compact version that can easily fold down and come apart for storage. The other in my 36″ Blackstone Griddle Grill. I love them both for different reasons.
I have a family of 4 so the compact version is perfect! I would want it any smaller than that though. I can easily cook egg roll in a bowl on the griddle grill all at once for all four. The size is perfect!
I also really like my 36″ Blackstone Griddle grill because it’s big enough to make cheese tacos shells or prep a lot of recipes for the week. It’s a really big cooking space!
The only thing I suggest you invest in is a cover. Not a big cover for the whole grill but a steam cover meant for cooking. I use my cover often when I want to cook eggs, steam veggies, or melt cheese quickly. The cooking cover captures the heat directly it to the top of the food allowing it to cook more evenly. You only need one cover too. For example, I used the cover to melt the cheese on this philly cheesesteaks after I put the meat and veggies over the bread. This allowed the whole cheesesteak to cook evenly from heating the bread to melting the cheese! I love that! The cover is totally worth the money.

Keto Philly Cheesesteaks Recipe Ingredients
- SUPER EASY Keto dinner idea made on the Blackstone Griddle Grill!
- 1 package of Steak-Umms or thinly sliced steak or 4 servings based on the package
- 8 slices Provolone cheese
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 small yellow onion
- 2 tbs olive oil
Keto Philly Cheesesteak Sauce Topping
- 1 part Dukes Mayonnaise
- 1 part Sriracha sauce
- 4 Keto Hotdog Buns (we used Sola Brand)
Instructions
- If you are using homemade keto buns, make these ahead of time.
- Start by making the sauce by adding equal parts of mayo and sriracha sauce in a bowl and mixing it until fully combined. Add the mixture to a drizzle bottle and keep it in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Prepare all the vegetables first but slicing them thinly.
- Lay out all of the ingredients needed before you start because once the grill heats up, the cooking process will go fast.
- Preheat the griddle grill over medium heat.
- On one side of the grill add 2 tbs of olive oil and add the precut vegetables (bell pepper and onions).
- On the other side of the preheated griddle grill, add the thin layers of steak. Do not stack them on top of one another because they will cook fast when spread out.
- Flip the veggies and steak as needed.
- Use a spatula to cut the steak into smaller pieces once it’s almost done cooking.
- Lower the heat on one side of the grill and move the steak over as it will be the ingredient the cooks the fastest and will be done first.
- Cook the vegetables until the onions are translucent and the bell peppers are soft. Move them over to the low heat and mix them in with the steak.
- Turn the other side of the griddle grill to low heat.
- Place the bread face side down to heat up the center of the buns.
- After a minute or so, flip the buns and start adding the meat and veggies mixture to each bun split evenly among each bun.
- Place two slices of provolone cheese on top of the meat and vegetable mixture on each bun.
- Cover with the cooking cover to help melt the cheese faster. This should only take a minute or two over low heat.
- Remove the cover and use the spatula to remove each Philly Cheesesteak and place it on a serving platter.
- Remove the sauce from the refrigerator and drizzle the sauce over each Philly cheesesteak just before serving.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
We do these on our blackstone regularly, we just skip the bun. Walmart also has an alternative to the steak ums that we like even better. The sirloin steak is already cut up, and formed back to look like a steak. As you cook it, the come apart super easy.
We liked this a lot. Used a griddle pan since we don’t have a Blackstone. WE used just 1/2 slice of cheese per sandwich and that was enough for us. We used the HEB brand of steak meat that is already chopped up.
