Questions Others Have Asked
What kind of bread is a hoagie roll?
A hoagie roll is a long, flat roll used to make hoagie sandwiches. Hoagie rolls are sometimes toasted and/or buttered before eating and often used makes sandwiches.
How do you keep hoagie rolls fresh?
It is very important that you wrap the rolls in foil, a storage bag or airtight container to keep them fresh. If you decide to wrap them in foil, be sure the foil covers all exposed portions of the hoagies or they could dry out or mold quickly.
My personal preference is to store them in an airtight storage container in the fridge. This ensures the maximum amount of freshness you get to enjoy them.
How long do hoagie rolls last in the fridge?
These hoagies will last 5-7 days in the refrigerator. To maximize the shelf life of this bread, keep them in an airtight container.
Can you freeze hoagies?
You can freeze them unbaked, but this will take a bit more planning when you are ready to use them. When storing them in the freezer unbaked, roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet. Next, place them in the freezer for 3-5 hours (or until completely frozen). After they are frozen, place them in a freezer bag until you are ready to use them.
If unbaked, pull the number of hoagie rolls you need to bake at least 1 day in advance so they can thaw in the refrigerator. Before baking, remove them from the fridge to cool to room temperature. Bake as recommended in the instructions.
Or you can freeze them already baked. When storing them in the freezer baked, place them in a foil wrap and place them in a freezer bag until you are ready to use them. If the rolls are baked, pull the foil pack from the Ziploc bag and loosen the foil around the rolls. Reheat in the oven at 300 degrees for about 10 minutes.
Whether you decide to store these hoagies in the freezer baked or unbaked, they will last up to a month in the freezer.
