Are donuts keto friendly?

Yes! Made with the right ingredients, donuts can be keto friendly. I personally have not looked at my local donut shops to see if they are offering keto-friendly options so you will most likely have to make them at home.

To be honest, I think making your own food and baked goods at home is so much better! You know what ingredients are going into your food and it helps you to stay on track with this way of eating easier.

Can you freeze these almond flour chocolate donuts?

These donuts are freezer-friendly. Just let them cool before freezing. To thaw, simply place in the fridge overnight.

How do you store donuts in the freezer?

Once fully cooled, I like to store my donuts in a freezer-safe bag. This helps to prevent them from getting freezer burn.

Keto Chocolate Cake Donut Recipe Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 320 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix the flaxseed with water and let it sit for 5 minutes. This is going to bring moisture and a chewy consistency to our donuts.
  3. Add cocoa powder, almond milk, baking powder, monk fruit, coconut oil, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
  4. Add coconut and almond flour and stir again.
  5. Take a donuts pan and spray it with baking spray.
  6. Place the dough of the donut into the molds, it’s quite sticky so use a wet spoon if needed. Fill them almost to the top, leaving a small space for them to grow.
  7. Bake them for 15 minutes. They’ll seem drier but still soft to the touch. Do not overbake them, as they continue to bake in the pan while they cool.
  8. For the glazé just melt the chocolate with the coconut oil and coat half of the donuts with it.
  9. Enjoy!

Tips

  • Coat them with a salted caramel sauce made out of 1/2 peanut butter, 1 tablespoon coconut oil, and 1/3 teaspoon salt.
  • Add some colored sprinkles for party-themed donuts!
