Crispy Everything Bagel Chaffle Chips
Wow! You are not going to believe what I just did! I just made Crispy Everything Bagel Chaffle Chips! I was finishing up a Keto Chaffle Recipe and while the waffle iron was still hot I decided to see if I could make chips!
This idea came to me because I oftentimes put a slice of cheese on a microwave-safe plate and put it in my microwave for 1 minute. This technique always gets me quick and easy cheese chips pretty quick. I do this technique with pepperoni too. I love pepperoni chips!
I am in love with my mini waffle maker. You know what else? I already have a regular size waffle iron but I just had to have the mini. I’m glad I purchased it and let me tell you why. It makes the perfect portion size to fill me up! It makes the perfect size chaffle for a sandwich. And, it even makes a cute little chaffle cake too!
But wait! There’s one other very important reason. The keto chaffle recipes I make in this mini waffle maker tend to be thinner too. I’ve tried the same recipes in my regular waffle iron and honestly, it’s just not the same. I tried this Keto Pizza Chaffle in my regular waffle iron and the crust was way too thick. It’s almost like the teeth of the waffle iron go deeper. If you want a lot of keto bread for a certain recipe, this might be good for you but out of all the recipes I’ve made, I really would rather have the size and thickness my little mini waffle makes. Ok, here’s how we made these Crispy Everything Bagel Chaffle Chips!
Crispy Everything Bagel Chaffle Chips Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese or Parmigiano Reggiano, shredded
- 1 teaspoon Everything Bagel Seasoning
Crispy Everything Bagel Chaffle Chips Instructions
- Preheat the mini waffle maker.
- Place the Parmesan cheese on the griddle and allow it to bubble. About 3 minutes. Be sure to leave it long enough or else it won’t turn crispy when it cools. Important step!
- Sprinkle the melted cheese with about 1 teaspoon of Everything Bagel Seasoning. Leave the waffle iron open while it cooks!
- Unplug the mini waffle maker and allow it to cool for a few minutes. This will allow the cheese to cool enough to bind together and get crispy.
- After about 2 minutes of it cooling off, it will still be warm.
- Use a mini spatula to peel the warm (but not hot) cheese from the mini waffle iron.
- Allow it to cool completely for crispy chips! These chips pack a powerful crunch which is something I tend to miss on Keto!
Note: The more cheese you use the thicker the chips will be. The less cheese you use the lighter and more crispy the chips will be! This technique works well for both textures! Just be sure to use less Everything Bagel seasonings if you use less cheese. You don’t want the seasonings to be overpowering to the ratio of cheese you have.
You might also note that these can absolutely be made the same way in the oven. Hello to huge batches of crispy keto chips! Just sprinkle cheese in circles and bake long enough for the cheese to bubble. I would bake them on parchment paper though to prevent sticking.
This makes 6 chips and they will fill you up!
