BBQ Grilled Mushrooms Recipe

We just made the easiest grilled mushrooms recipe you will ever try!

We made these grilled mushrooms using white mushrooms but you can use any mushroom type your little heart desires.  We love grilled mushrooms. Remember last year when we made Portabello stuffed mushrooms tops on the grill?

Did you know white mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus) belong to the Fungi kingdom and constitute about 90% of the mushrooms consumed in the United States!  It’s true!

White mushrooms are low in calories and high in protein, vitamin D, and vitamin B12. Once you bbq mushrooms, you will want to make it like this all the time.

We seasoned these up with our own olive oil to make the best grilled mushrooms seasoning. You can use bbq sauce too if you wanted to make it a tad easier. I highly recommend Sweet Baby Rays No Sugar Added bbq sauce because it’s made with allulose keto-friendly sweetener and it caramelizes just like real sugar which gives your bbq that stickiness it needs that you don’t normally get with the other keto bbq sauces that are made with other sweeteners.

For example, G Hughes doesn’t use allulose so their bbq sauce tends to be more watery. It still tastes great but it doesn’t have that stickiness I really like it when I use it for BBQs.

This is exactly how to grill mushrooms.  We soak the skewers in water for a minimum of 30 minutes before using them.  This way the skewers don’t catch fire on the grill.

We make sure the mushrooms have been cleaned and dried. Then we mix our seasonings, add the mushrooms to the skewers and baste the seasonings on. Super easy!

This recipe calls for soy sauce but for those sensitive to soy products, I would recommend replacing that ingredient with liquid aminos or coconut aminos. Those two ingredients taste just like soy sauce in my opinion.

This is a great recipe to add to any of your keto-friendly bbq menu plans. You can make this recipe the main dish or you can use the mushrooms as a side dish also.

Either way you will enjoy it!

BBQ Grilled Mushrooms Recipe Instructions

  1. Once washed, chop off the mushrooms steam if is too long.
  2. Thread the mushrooms on the skewers, putting 4 on each and leaving 3-inch handles at the ends.
  3. Whisk all the other ingredients in a small bowl and brushed the mushrooms with that sauce until they are well coated for both sides.
  4. Grilled them 10 minutes on each side or until fork-tender.
  5. Optional: garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy immediately.
