Keto Flatbread made in Panini Maker
We just had Keto Flatbread made in Panini Maker! I bet you didn’t even realize you can make a keto flatbread recipe, did you?
We got this idea because of all the keto chaffle recipes we make using the mini dash waffle maker. It’s really easy to make keto bread using cheese and eggs but sometimes the waffle maker makes bread that is a bit too thick.
I was trying to find a way to make a thinner bread but with a recipe that’s just as easy as all the other recipes we’ve made. I am used to using the Keto Jalapeno Cheese Bread Recipe that’s made with only three ingredients but it’s still not as thin as I would like.
Having a really good thin keto bread recipe such at keto flatbread would be perfect for a sandwich. It would also be fantastic as a base for a thin crust keto pizza!
The base of this recipe can be soft like a bread or it can have a little crispy outer crust too. I really like a crispy outer crust. It’s perfect for thin crust pizza! All you have to do is make the crust ahead of time and then bake it in the oven for about 10 minutes, just enough to time to heat and melt the cheese on the top of the pizza. It’s fantastic!
This shows a version of the keto flatbread without the crispy crust. Meaning we didn’t add a tablespoon of cheese before baking the flatbread on the panini maker. This makes a softer bread like texture if that’s what you are wanting.
Keto Flatbread Recipe Ingredients
- 1 cup cheese, shredded (we used Colby Jack but you can use your favorite cheese)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Keto Flatbread Recipe Instructions
- In a small bowl, add the egg and whip it with a fork.
- Add the seasonings to the egg mixture and mix it with a fork again.
- Add the shredded cheese and mix it with the egg mixture until it’s fully combined.
- Plug in the panini maker to allow it to fully heat up before using.
- Sprinkle a tablespoon or more of cheese over the panini maker and let it cook for about 3o seconds.
- Spread the cheese mixture over the middle of the panini maker leaving about 1 inch edge around the sides. You leave room around the sides because when you close the lid to the panini maker the cheese will spread that much. If you don’t leave room the batter will spill over the edges.
- Cook the flatbread for about 3 to 4 minutes until you see the steam stop. Don’t lift the lid of the panini maker before 3 minutes because the cheese must form a crust before you open the lid or else it will be a cheesy mess!
Note: One flat bread recipe will roughly make about 6 slices of bread when cut into 3 1/2 to 4 inch squares.
Here is a video we made to show you how to make this keto flatbread recipe.
