The fathead dough crust is a perfect substitution for a regular roll. Who knew you could enjoy this iconic sandwich, but completely keto-friendly/low carb?!?!? It tastes too good to be true.
I grew up just south of Seattle, Wa. My “stomping grounds” as you could call it. I spent most of my 20’s around downtown, Pike Place Market, DICK’s Drive-Inn and Pioneer Square. Late nights and LOTS of fun, I’ll leave it at that. Seattle was an amazing adventure for food.
Fresh seafood, dive bars, Mom’ n Pop shops and vendor carts. Of course, the iconic Seattle Dogs and the food trucks! Ohh… the food trucks! My favorite was always a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. The GREAT DEBATE: With Wiz or Classic Provolone/Swiss (depending on who was grilling that evening- usually their choice).
I know, Seattle isn’t Philly.. but this is what I grew up with. The two best food choices in the world (all time, for me). So, as the late, late hours of the evening were approaching, decisions had to be made. With only minimal cash remaining in my pocket, Seattle Dogs were usually on every main corner and cheaper. BUT, I made sure to make up for it on many day trips carefully planned out.
My version of this loved cheese steak sandwich would be in comparison to a “Deluxe”. Provolone, seasoned steak strips fried in grease, creamy cheese sauce, sauteed onion, bell pepper and mushrooms with melted swiss on top. You are drooling now, aren’t you?! Grab a napkin, because now you can drool all over the pictures you are about to scroll through!

Cheese Steak Pizza Pocket Recipe Ingredients
- 1 recipe –Keto Go-To Fathead Pizza Crust Recipe
- 2 pieces –Thinly Sliced & Shaped Sirloin Beef Steak by Steak-eze
- ½ medium yellow onion, sliced
- 1 small Red Bell Pepper, Raw
- 1 whole Raw Portobello Mushroom
- 2 Slice Provolone Cheese
- 2 slice Swiss Cheese, Natural
- 1 tbs Unsalted Butter
- 2 tbs Heavy Whipping Cream
- 2 oz. Original Real Cream Cheese Regular By Philadelphia
- 1/2 tbs Organic Coconut Aminos Seasoning Sauce by Big Tree Farms
- 1/2 tsp Xanthan Gum by Bob’s Red Mill
Cheese Steak Pizza Pocket Recipe Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
- Prepare the Keto Go-To Fathead Pizza Crust Recipe
- * leave extra length on the parchment paper for folding later*
- In a medium pan, fry the steak on medium heat until cooked.
- Set aside and saute onion, bell pepper then lastly add mushroom- Let cook until tender.
- In a small sauce pot, on low heat- Add butter, HWC, and cream cheese.
- Let simmer until melted, stirring frequently.
- Once melted, add aminos and xanthan gum. Simmer low 3-4 minutes.
- After crust is baked for 10 minutes, FLIP IT.
- Layer on one side of crust- provolone, steak, cream sauce, onion/bell/mushroom, then swiss.
- Fold over the other half of the crust, to create the “pizza pocket”.
- Carefully fold over parchment paper, tucking in the sides and wrap over like a burrito!
- Bake another 18-20 minutes (temp vary if your oven runs hot).
- Carefully unwrap the parchment, let cool slightly then cut into sections.

Very good. I modified a bit. Didn’t have time to make cream sauce so just used provolone on top and bottom. Kids liked it as well. Hopefully it heats well for leftovers.
