I wonder if you could use Almond Flour as a thickening agent instead of the gum.
Maybe some flax seed meal
You can use Arrow root to thicken instead of Xanthan Gum. Almond flour will not thicken the gravy as you need it.
Instead of the ground beef, I used ground turkey (93%). I replaced the pork rinds with 1/4 cup dried shallots. For the gravy, I replaced the beef broth and heavy cream with 1 cup chicken broth and 1/4 cup Lactaid non fat milk to the cooked onion and mushroom mixture and brought to a boil to thicken for 2-3 minutes. I then put the mixture into a blender and liquified the gravy and put over the turkey patties before covering and putting into the oven.
Great recipe! I didn’t use mushrooms because I don’t like them and didn’t use thyme because I didn’t have any but otherwise made as written. Turned out sooooo good. Hubby enjoyed too! Definitely will make again soon. Thanks!
This dish was amazing, didn’t change a thing. Moving on to try egg cups.
